Surron and Talaria workshops often handle several vehicle models, battery voltages, aftermarket packs and charger connectors in the same space.
That creates a predictable risk: a charger can be physically available and appear to fit while using the wrong voltage, current, pinout or charging protocol.
A safer workshop treats every battery-and-charger combination as a controlled configuration.
Build a Battery and Charger Register
Create one record for every battery and charger entering the workshop.
The battery record should include:
- Customer or stock number
- Vehicle brand and model
- Battery brand and model
- Chemistry
- Nominal voltage
- Maximum charge voltage
- Capacity in Ah and Wh
- Approved charging current
- BMS current limit
- Connector and polarity
- Communication requirement
- Physical condition
The charger record should include output voltage, current, connector, AC plug, serial number and approved batteries.
Do not rely on memory.
Label Every Charger Clearly
A useful charger label should show:
- Charger ID
- Configured output voltage
- Configured current
- Connector type
- Approved battery IDs
- AC input requirement
- Date of inspection
Color coding can help operators, but text and numbers must remain the primary identification method. Colors alone can be confused or fade.
Verify Before Every Connection
Use a short two-person or documented check for unfamiliar, high-value or high-power systems:
- Match battery ID to charger ID
- Confirm maximum charge voltage
- Confirm current is within the BMS limit
- Inspect connector and polarity
- Check cable and enclosure condition
- Confirm AC circuit capacity
- Place the battery in the approved charging area
Never connect first and use the charger's reaction as the compatibility test.
Inspect the Charging Area
The charging area should be:
- Dry
- Ventilated
- Clear of combustible storage
- Protected from vehicle traffic
- Easy to monitor
- Equipped according to local fire and electrical requirements
Keep charger air inlets and outlets unobstructed. Do not place clothing, packaging or tools on the charger enclosure.
Workshop emergency procedures and equipment should be defined with qualified local safety professionals.
Check the AC Supply
High-power chargers can place a substantial continuous load on the electrical system.
Confirm:
- Circuit rating
- Socket and plug condition
- Ground connection
- Cable and extension-lead rating
- Other loads on the same circuit
- Regional electrical compliance
Do not daisy-chain adapters or use damaged sockets. If the circuit capacity is uncertain, have it assessed by a qualified electrician.
Understand Charger Protection

Protection can shut down the charger, but it does not make an incorrect configuration safe.

- Resume only after the cause is corrected
Repeatedly restarting a charger without diagnosing the fault can hide a developing problem.
Monitor the Charging Session
At minimum, record:
- Start time
- Battery state of charge
- Charger ID
- Operator
- Displayed voltage and current
- Battery and charger condition
- Completion time
- Any abnormal event
Stop the session if there is unexpected heat, smell, noise, swelling, cable damage, unstable current or repeated protection.
Manage Surron and Talaria Configurations Separately
Do not assume that Surron and Talaria batteries share a charger because they are both e-moto products.
Use dedicated charger IDs unless a documented technical review confirms:
- Same chemistry
- Same maximum charge voltage
- Shared approved current
- Compatible connector and polarity
- Compatible control interface

Standardize Configurable Chargers
The TRB POWER Apex CH30 Ultra can be factory-configured for professionally matched lithium battery systems.
For workshop use, treat each configured unit as fixed unless TRB POWER provides an approved profile-management procedure. Restrict parameter access, label the approved batteries and keep the configuration record with the charger.
